Nah.. it'll be fine, Top Gear is THE moneymaker for BBC, they won't shut it down if they don't have to.

That and Jeremy is everywhere.

Considering Jeremy owns a good chunk of it, I don't think it's in the BBC's power to stop the series outright. They might stop broadcasting it, but there are always other channels that would love to pick it up.

I don't know, last time I got involved a fracas there were some pretty serious consequences.

Oh boy......could be serious since it followed an investigation after a "fight" which, if it was physical, has rather bad implications for jeremy.

This sunday's program has been pulled. The beeb can do what they want.

But they might be stupid enough to boot Clarkson.

I thought he owned part of Top Gear. But yeah, you might be right.. The thing is though, who would they replace him with?

Granted, I don't know what happened, but couldn't we just chalk this up to Clarkson being Clarkson? I can't see the BBC cancelling Top Gear. He'll apologize and everything will calm down in a couple of weeks I say,

They're just gonna take the show somewhere else. Who doesn't want a profit magnet like Top Gear?

BALLS! The best series in years and somebody had to go and ruin it.

How?

May and Hammond are locked in at the BBC and the BBC partly own the licence.

But that was Piers morgan. Britain disliked him so much they shipped him over here. The colonies!

Whew, I thought Jeremy had said something off color in public again.

Since this happened in house I'm sure they'll patch things up, maybe keep Clarkson off the show an additional week and that'll be it.

Don't underestimate how much money Top Gear brings into the Beeb on an annual basis.

Rowan Atkinson would actually be a good choice... He has all the comedy and cars already down. That said, he's probably too big to just throw in there like that, and his style doesn't really fit that of the show.

I can't think of any other British gearhead comedians.

Well, they just killed BBC Brit in the Nordic countries then I guess. If they pull the plug on Top Gear they've got pretty much nothing.

Not happening. TG is the BBC's NFL.

Roger Goodell could stage a press conference for the sole purpose of calling Jeff Zucker (NBC / Universal's CEO) a needle-dicked bug-fucker, and NBC would still not drop them.

Same goes for Top Gear. They won't film this week's episode, but will be back next week after everybody calms down. Too much $$$ to be made by all involved.

I'd prefer Bill Bailey over Rowan if I'm honest, but neither of them would fit in on Top Gear I'd say.

Jeremy Clarkson creates an identical show with a different but familiar name (eg, High Gear ) at another network, like David Letterman did when he left NBC.

Also, Hammond and May might not be exclusive with the BBC. James May has done work for Sky during his Top Gear contract and Richard Hammond has done stuff for Sky, ITV, and National Geographic.

It's had an OK run too. Always been in Top Gear 's shadow, but still a pretty respectable record.

How much longer can they run the way they are now? Jeremy and James are 54 and 52. Can they keep going for another ten years when they're 64 and 62? It's the most watched show on the planet as it stands however I'm quite certain that watching Jeremy doing these things today but at retirement age probably won't be so much fun anymore and he might become something to laugh at more often and laugh with less.

They seriously need to examine the next five years of Top Gear, and hope to god somewhere in the future, a new batch of younger and respectable hosts spring up that are capable of bringing this level of entertainment and education to the rest of us. If they don't they run the rist of Ecclestoning the show. Riding it until the end without anyone to take over and a big disaster fallout when one of them is no longer with us because nobody can handle a sudden change like that. There's 5th gear, yes, but even then it's a different show entirely.

A half billion viewers is enough of a world wide market share that someone, somewhere will pick it up. The thing is, since BBC is funded by the government, they probably won't care and cancel it from their networks anyway....at least that's my understanding of how BBC shows work. Any Euro Opponauts that have more insight, please feel free to correct my assumption.

Rowan on Top Gear, I'm not so sure about, but if he started his own comedy/cars show in his own style, that would have potential.

Jezza, Tiff, Vicky and I'm sure there was a another one but can't think who started Fifth Gear, only Jezza went back after the BBC decided not to pull the plug on Top Gear. Which is when May and Hammond came in. If Jezza had went with Tiff and the other person tv as we know it (well automotive tv) would be very different today.
